Earthquake!

As I'm sure you've heard by now, we had a 6.5 magnitude earthquake here this past Saturday. It was quite a shaker! No damage here at the house, but if I still had my online retail store, I'd be feeling a world of hurt right now. Reason being, the building where I had my office and warehouse has been tagged by the city of Eureka as being unsafe. I had about $15,000 worth of inventory in this building at one point...

Having practically lived in the Lloyd Building for about 5 years, I know a thing or three about it that most people don't. The part that's broken away there is really just a false front that was added to the building's brick facade in the 1950s. I was actually inside the Lloyd when we had a 5.something earthquake back in 2000, and the place was stable as a rock. I hope the owners can convince the city that the front portion breaking off doesn't reflect on the structural integrity of the rest of the building. I may not have a connection to the Lloyd anymore, but I'd hate to see it torn down just the same.
Incidentally, the Lloyd Building was named after none other than the famous late actor Lloyd Bridges. His father owned several buildings in Eureka back in the early 20th century...
