My Mum used to go to London at least once a year during the '80's. I was over there with her often and yes we stayed in The Regent's. I remember coming up the steps of Piccadilly Circus tube station to be greeted with the hotel's towering front. It was very basic with its communal toilets. Mum would always ask for a room looking out into the centre of the hotel. Much quieter. All you could see were the other hotel rooms looking back at you. I loved it, like being inside a hive. And downstairs was that old brown oak conference room. Like something out of the Shining! And then we'd step outside into the magic of London. Many, many happy times were had and The Regents Palace Hotel was a 2nd home to my Mum. She passed away unexpectedly last year but thankfully her and I got to go beforehand to London for one last trip. We visited where the Regent's Palace once stood and we sighed that it was no more but the memories were still very much there and they feel even stronger today. Great photos, thanks for posting them.
Much missed.
