1950 Stude!
Oct. 16th, 2007 06:21 amI can hardly believe it. Someone in my neighborhood has a 1950 Studebaker Starlite coupe for sale! (This isn't it, but this is what one looks like.)
I've wanted one of these since I saw one on a used car lot when I was 17. It was stock, cherry, and only $700.
The one I just saw for sale is $16,000.
I'd be insane to spend that kind of money on such whimsy. But I can't stop thinking about that car... *sighs*
EDIT: Sweet! I just found one of my all-time favorite TV commercials on YouTube! It has a 1950 Stude in it. (It's a Volkswagen commercial, actually.) This was from when I was in high school; I think either 1971 or '72 (it ran on TV for a long time).
I never forgot those Andrews Sisters clones singing, ♫ "The '49 Hudson is the car for youuuuuuuu!" ♪ ^^
