Mystery Movie

Any B-movie experts out there? The photo below shows my father as an "extra" in a low-budget Japanese monster flick from the late '60s or early '70s. Dad is third from the left, in a white lab coat.

Does anybody maybe recognize what film this scene was in? I don't know, myself, and neither did my late father, as apparently the movie didn't have a title yet when this photograph was taken.

How this happened was that my father was in Japan on a business trip, and one day while having lunch in a restaurant with one of his associates, a movie director who was also eating there at the time saw Dad and asked if he might be interested in appearing in the film he was currently shooting. Evidently the director needed a photogenic Occidental, and my father was simply at hand. Dad wouldn't have to say a word – all he had to do was wear the lab coat and do what the director told him to do in this one scene. I'm presuming that the man who is passing out here is one of the main characters. He looks vaguely familiar to me, like maybe I've seen him in other low-budget movies, but I can't be sure.

So does anybody have any leads? I've been wondering about this picture for almost 40 years, and I think it would be fun to finally find out what movie my dad was actually in. ^^

forwarding the reply I just received:

Damian: Hey there. Remember that picture form an unknown movie you that had your friend's dad in a bit part? I've been showing it around some bad movie fandom boards and so far the only possible lead I've seen is that it might be "The Double Garden" AKA "Revenge of Dr. X", made by Toei productions, the people behind Ultraman and Captain Harlock with a screenplay by the infamous Ed Wood.
